SCARBOROUGH - The Hon. John McKay M.P. joined Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, Chair of Toronto’s Affordable Housing Committee, Ms. Toni Rossi, Chair of Habitat for Humanity Toronto, former local MPP Mary Anne Chambers, and local religious leaders in a ground blessing ceremony of a new affordable housing site in Scarborough.

Once completed the facility will provide new affordable houses to families with children who otherwise could not afford to own a home of their own. This project will help to provide not only affordable housing, but financial stability for low-income families through equity and ownership of their homes.

Said McKay: “It is encouraging to see these kinds of developments taking place in our community. Projects like this one provide strength and stability for our neighbourhood because it provides people the opportunity to care for their own part of the community and establish a home that acts as a solid foundation for their and children’s lives.

We must also be thankful for the selfless work of people like Sister Jeanine Scarfone, General Director of the Sisters of Social Service, and Sister Margaret Myatt, the Congregational Leader of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, whose tireless efforts make this project possible.”
